Challenging Jesus?

Challenging Jesus?

We read stories everyday where people all around the world step up and challenge Jesus Christ and they know not what they do. Most people when reading these stories are blind to the fact that what they are reading about is not the story itself, but the person or persons within the story challenging God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit or all three at the same time. We are so ignorant – I am so ignorant that I read these stories throughout the day until it becomes a challenge for me to remain sane. It is only by the grace and mercy of God that I am able to remain sane in an insane world.

When reading John 5 we find a person that has been laying by a body of water, Bethesda, for thirty-eight years as he is disabled to the point of losing the ability to walk. Jesus spies him out, on the Sabbath, and heals his affliction. We then hear from the Jews, multiple, who approach the man and begin questioning why he was healed on the Sabbath!! Never mind the fact the man has been laying by a body of water for thirty-eight years awaiting his moment to be healed, why did he get healed on the Sabbath!! Never mind the fact that Jesus Christ just healed the man, the concern is why it happened on the Sabbath.

Is this how a lot, if not most, see our world today? Never mind the fact that our entire world is out of balance. Do we find is a greater concern with how our hair looks or the latest stats of a favorite football team / player? Nothing is real, while everything turns to dust. Do we see Jesus at all working miracles in our world today? Do we seek the Father and knock on the door of our Father’s house for refuge? What about asking the Holy Spirit to fill our heart, our home and fill those around us?

John 5 NKJV

19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.
22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,
23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment but has passed from death into life.
25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,
27 and as given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
